Clifton College Pool

The pool we use is at Clifton College, on Guthrie Road in Clifton. It's very close to Bristol Zoo, one of Bristol's larger tourist attractions, which is itself very well signposted.

  • Sat Nav Postcode BS8 3EZ

As mentioned above, the pool is very close to Bristol Zoo. To get to the pool from the Zoo's main entrance you simply carry on down Upper Belgrave Road (with the zoo on your left) and turn left into College Road. Then turn left into Guthrie Road and Clifton College is approx 150 yards ahead on the right.  We use the vehicular entrance just next to the sports field (near the junction of Guthrie Road and Northcote Road - left of the main college entrance).

Pool sessions run from 18:45pm to 21:30pm on Saturday evenings.

Breakwater Beach, Brixham

Weather and visibility permitting, Breakwater Beach at Brixham is our first choice venue for the Open Water dives.

It takes about 2 hours to get to Brixham from the Dive Shop. We normally park in the Breakwater car park and then walk back around the harbour to Tides Cafe for breakfast at around 8am.  For those who want a lie in, we meet back at Breakwater beach for 9am.  Please note that the car park fills up early in the morning - especially in the summer months.

Chesil Beach, Dorset

Chesil beach is another favoured dive site for open water dives.  We usually stop for breakfast at The Harbourside Bistro, 10 Custom House Quay, Weymouth, Dorset DT4 8BG before heading down to Chesil Beach.

Thurlestone Beach, Devon

Thurlestone beach is a nice open water dive site with the advantage of having the wreck of the Louis Sheid accessible from shore.

Vobster Quay, Somerset

For deep dives and if the weather makes it impossible to go to the coast we'll try Vobster as one of the optional "quarry" dive sites. Note an entrance fee is payable.

Stoney Cove, Leicestershire

If the weather and/or viz aren't playing ball we'll often try Stoney Cove instead. Note an entrance fee is payable.

NDAC, Chepstow

National Diving & Activity Centre.  Another site for diving if the weather is bad or we require a bit more depth for advanced dives.  Note an entrance fee is payable.
